Chris Wojcik is a brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who recently found microdosing. We asked him about his experience and his exercise routine and how it helps him stay his best self.
Can you give us a quick overview of your athletic background and what led you to BJJ?
I grew up on the North Side of Chicago, and after a failed basketball career (I got cut from my 7th grade team, lol), I ended up wrestling. I wrestled from 7th grade through high school, gradually improving every year. I was never a world-class wrestler, but good enough to have a leg up on most white belts when I started Jiu-Jitsu. I originally began Jiu-Jitsu because I loved what wrestling brought out of me (learning how to work hard) and I wanted to fight MMA, but after just 6 months of BJJ training I knew Jiu-Jitsu was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
How long have you been competing and what are some of your top accomplishments in your sport?
I've been competing since 2016 in BJJ. As a purple belt, I won IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in 2019. I have won medals at the IBJJF majors at every colored belt and in 2022, I quit competing in the gi and focused on becoming a professional grappler. I've finished top 4 in the ADCC Trials 3 times, including a bronze medal at the 2023 ADCC European Trials, and I competed and placed 4th in ADCC Worlds 2024. I was also runner-up on PGF Season 7 and at EBI 22.
What are some of the key aspects of your health and wellness routine as a competitive athlete (diet, fitness priorities, supplements, etc…)
The cornerstone habits that have allowed me to compete for as long as I have are daily grappling training and strength training about 3 times per week. Steroids are rampant (and not illegal) in Jiu-Jitsu, but I've never tried anything more intense than creatine. Every day, I take Magnesium Glycinate, Creatine Monohydrate, at least 3 electrolyte packets, and an almost daily dose of ATHLETHC. Before competitions and competition training, I also take Grapple Science COGNITION.
Did you have experience with microdosing before trying ATHLETHC?
Before ATHLETHC, I hadn't taken a microdose of anything in years. I had a bad experience with weed when I was 18 (like many young people, I took too much), and I stayed off the stuff for years. This made me skeptical of ATHLETHC before I tried, and even more impressed when I realized how much I enjoy the product.
How do you like to use ATHLETHC mints?
I do strength training 3 times per week and cardio 2-3 times per week, always in the afternoon after training. Typically, I take Power before most of my strength training workouts. If I don't take Power before the workout, I will take a Recovery at night when I am relaxing with my wife at home. If I am working on the weekend (I am a writer when I am not training), I like to take Flow when I am looking over work.
What is your favorite formula?
My favorite blend and formula is the cinnamon Power Blend. I've always loved cinnamon mints, ever since I was a kid. Honestly, microdosing with Power before a hard strength training or conditioning session is one of my favorite workouts of the week.
Where can readers find you?
My Instagram handle is @chrismwojcik. I also write a weekly newsletter called The Grappler's Diary on Substack.com about the life of doing Jiu-Jitsu professionally. If anyone would like to watch me compete, I'll be at CJI 2 on August 30-31, representing B-Team!
